Essay Writing Service

Essay Writing Service If I’m assigned a paper and it has to be a minimum number of words, I worry about hitting that number. I have a writing assignment in school, and it is always helpful to know how many pages I will need. I think that since teachers don’t give page assignments but only word count assignments, it’s difficult to imagine how many pages that will be. I write longer words than most, so most of my pages have less words than the estimates on this page. You should change them so they are more accurate for people who use longer vocabulary words. I agree that there are a lot of people who are overly concerned with word count, but there are legitimate reasons to keep it in mind as well. If it’s not something important to you and your writing, you can ignore it. Some of us get marked down points if we do not hit a certain word count or page count. If you struggle a bit with wording your ideas in an eloquent way, focus first on getting all your content down. Choose the keywords you're searching for wisely, and copy and paste any key ideas and quotes you find into a separate 'Research' document. Create a mini-outline in your introduction so you signpost exactly what it is you're planning to argue. Don't worry too much about making it sound amazing at this point â€" just get stuck into introducing your argument and telling the reader how you'll support it. You can go back and make yourself sound smarter later on when you're at the editing stage. Once you've decided on your approach to answering the question, you should be able to form a pretty solid plan for the body of the essay. It can be helpful to come up with a quick answer in your head, as this gives you a general idea of what to write about and means you won't need to keep rereading the question. The very fact that they're short and worded in a very straightforward way means you're probably expected to construct a much more original and complex essay to respond to it. If you've been given a choice of essay questions, you should choose the one you have the most knowledge about, or have some strong opinions on. There are many reasons students find themselves in this pressurised situation . If you are given a writing assignment with a page number, the best thing to do is go directly to the person who made the assignment and ask for a word count. This will take away all the variations and help ensure your writing assignment meets expectations. Do you know what fonts have the widest spacing so that they fill up the page more quickly? I need to find a wide font so I don’t have to write as many words to fill up the pages on my assignment. What am I supposed to do if I write 1000 words, but it doesn’t make the number of pages I want? I don’t think I should have to write more words just because mine happen to be shorter than my classmates. We both wrote the same number of words, his are just longer so it takes up more pages. This way, when you sit down after lunch to tackle the main body of the essay, you'll have already knocked a couple of hundred words off the word count. As your intro is unlikely to need many quotes, it makes sense to get the ball rolling and feel a sense of achievement as soon as you've planned your essay and know where it's going. We're not here to judge, rather help you make the best of a tricky situation. You had every intention of getting your essay done before the deadline, but sometimes life can get in the way. I wrote an essay of 1550 words and it was barely 4.5 pages . I have a paper with ~2800 words and it is 3 lines past the 4th page. Aye how many words do I have to put if I’m typing a 14 page essay. That means people who write long words have an advantage even though long words aren’t always good to use. Just because an estimate won’t be exactly right doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. For those who are looking for a basic rough idea, this is helpful. I only need to write 250 words and you don’t have how many pages that is on your list. If you can send me in the direction of the best wide font to do this, that would be great. Depending on the genre of book you are writing, word count can be critical in whether or not your writing can actually be published. Publishers like certain genres to be within certain word counts, so any author who hopes to be published has to create their works within these counts.

The Ultimate Guide To Essay Writing

The Ultimate Guide To Essay Writing Your thesis statement is the most important part of your essay. It is the crux of everything and functions as a guide to your entire paper. Often students struggle with essays because they don't understand essay structure. You probably already have a tone of voice you use for writing essays, but is it interesting and engaging? 2) Sit back and look at your diagram, perhaps alongside your notes, and work out the main ‘point’ or conclusion you want to make in your essay. The best essays are characterised by a clear line of argument throughout â€" I don’t really buy the idea that essays should present both sides of a question. I always decide what I’m trying to say; the point I want to conclude with, before I start. You may not consciously realise it when you’re reading, but sophisticated sentence structures make the world of difference to how intelligent you sound. Employ a variety of sentence structures, long and short, but don’t let your sentences become too long and rambling, or they become difficult to read. Read through some of your old essays and ask yourself honestly whether you find them absorbing. If they’re not, it could well be because you’ve not established the right tone of voice. Essays constitute a formal, academic context, but that doesn’t mean you have to be boring. A confident tone of voice will help show the reader that you know what you’re talking about and reassure them that they’re in safe hands. The process of ordering papers at our website is simple and quick. Since you want the writer to work according to specific instructions, you’ll need to provide them in the order form. The form is a bit detailed, since we need info on the deadline, type of paper, area of study, topic, citation style, and more. This article is all about pinpointing what those skills might be, and giving you some suggestions as to how you might develop them. In general, the further you progress through your education, the more rote learning will be replaced by the kind of analysis usually best demonstrated by essays. One way or another, essay writing comes to us all. Make sure to specify the type of project and its area of study. Is it an essay with a topic from social sciences? Choose the right parameters, so we can assign a writer with adequate education and experience. A-Writer is the only essay writer service that offers unlimited revisions until full satisfaction. If the writer delivers an essay that you don’t like, our team will offer amendments and won’t charge for them. As a writer, you also need to organize your paragraphs overall. An essay should be organized according to an internal logic wherein one idea leads logically to the next. Sometimes this means placing it early so the rest of introduction can expand and provide supporting arguments. Other times, you might find you need other arguments before your thesis. Now, the job you’ve got in writing the essay is to set this conclusion up. Even if your teacher does prescribe reading, it’s always worth seeing whether you can find something extra that will add breadth, depth or a fresh perspective to your argument. However, it’s important to think carefully about whether a source is reliable and valuable. The good news, on the other hand, is that the individual skills required to write a strong essay are things you can learn, practise and improve in. That way, you’ll have something to refer to when you’re writing an essay and want to consult appropriate scholars or other writers whose opinions you might wish to include. Only then can you start writing the structure for an essay that builds up to your overall conclusion. Another good source of essays is the broadsheet newspapers. Essays should be balanced, so you can learn from the best of these writers and pick up some techniques to help you shape a balanced piece. Effective punctuation is vital in conveying your arguments persuasively; the last thing a teacher or lecturer wants to read is an essay riddled with poor grammar. What’s more, the reader shouldn’t have to read a sentence more than once to understand it. For each of the subjects you’re studying, start a page in a notebook for important people in that field, with a summary of when they lived and what their views are.

Composing An Essay

Composing An Essay I think that since teachers don’t give page assignments but only word count assignments, it’s difficult to imagine how many pages that will be. I write longer words than most, so most of my pages have less words than the estimates on this page. You should change them so they are more accurate for people who use longer vocabulary words. Your thoughts must be stated clearly, so your readers understand exactly what you wanted to say. A time when you were disappointed or discouraged by something someone said. These are the parts of your paragraphs that will get you the higher marks in any marking scheme. Explanation of why the point is important and how it helps with your overall argument. Different fonts and different font sizes will affect the number of pages you write. This is one reason why a teacher may give an assignment length in words instead of pages - page length can be faked by changing the margins and fonts. It starts when you first get a choice of which question you want to answer, which might even first happen in primary school. Using storytelling in educational settings can enable educators to connect with their students because of inborn tendencies for humans to listen to stories. Academic paragraphs are usually between 200 and 300 words long . The important thing is that they should be long enough to contain all the above material. Only move onto a new paragraph if you are making a new point. Do you know what fonts have the widest spacing so that they fill up the page more quickly? I need to find a wide font so I don’t have to write as many words to fill up the pages on my assignment. I wrote an essay of 1550 words and it was barely 4.5 pages . I have a paper with ~2800 words and it is 3 lines past the 4th page. Why don’t you use the 15 page word count and subtract just a bit? Your question is quite easily self-answered, as the author has given an extensive guide. If you can send me in the direction of the best wide font to do this, that would be great. Depending on the genre of book you are writing, word count can be critical in whether or not your writing can actually be published. Publishers like certain genres to be within certain word counts, so any author who hopes to be published has to create their works within these counts. Aye how many words do I have to put if I’m typing a 14 page essay. I agree that there are a lot of people who are overly concerned with word count, but there are legitimate reasons to keep it in mind as well. If it’s not something important to you and your writing, you can ignore it. Some of us get marked down points if we do not hit a certain word count or page count. a general field of considerations from which arguments can be drawn. When thinking of an essay idea, you may not have the ‘Eureka! That is probably a good thing â€" a more considered, developed, original idea will probably make for a better essay. Instead, it’s about coming up with an essay title that suits your concerns, your interests and your personal reaction to whatever it is that you’re studying. If I’m assigned a paper and it has to be a minimum number of words, I worry about hitting that number. I have a writing assignment in school, and it is always helpful to know how many pages I will need. What am I supposed to do if I write 1000 words, but it doesn’t make the number of pages I want? I don’t think I should have to write more words just because mine happen to be shorter than my classmates. We both wrote the same number of words, his are just longer so it takes up more pages. That means people who write long words have an advantage even though long words aren’t always good to use.

Philosophy Tutor Autonomous Rationality and Learning to Think

Philosophers today are keen to trumpet the advantages of majoring in philosophy (see here for a good summary page with links). I’ve been part of the chorus myself in previous posts discussing how philosophy can fit into your college academics. I’ve tended to focus on many of the instrumental advantages (e.g., how well it prepares one for law school) partly because nearly all undergraduates will go on to do something besides philosophy once they graduate. Today I will focus on one advantage of a philosophy education that has more intrinsic value for a meaningful life. In proper philosophical fashion, though, I will approach it critically, rather than simply recommending it by listing its purported virtues. An ideal bequeathed to wider culture by Enlightenment philosophers is that of individual autonomous rationality. The best way to understand this ideal, I think, is as the cultivation of the capacity, indeed habit, of exercising one’s own powers of reasoning, without aid, to decide what to believe, what to value, and how to act. See Immanuel Kant’s famous essay identifying something close to this as the answer to the question, â€Å"What is enlightenment?† This was the articulated ideal of those striving to liberate people from the lordship of tyrannical governments and oppressive religions.Whether articulated in quite this way or not, many philosophers will see this ideal at least implicit in the very beginnings of philosophy, with Socrates being its most famous advocate. More importantly, they will see themselves as trying to impart this tradition to incoming students of philosophy. Sure, the rules of reasoning, the habits of skeptical yet constructive questioni ng, etc., have found their way into many other disciplines, and people can learn to become critical thinkers elsewhere. But philosophers still think of their discipline as home base for cultivating autonomous thinking as much as it can be. Other disciplines must take certain assumptions for granted in order to proceed. In philosophy, everything is up for grabs. Rooting out never-articulated assumptions and taken-for-granted articles of faith is the stock in trade of philosophy. It is here, in philosophy, where one is brought to the dawning realization of just how much we rely on inherited beliefs and habits of behavior. The two most general and serious kinds of objections to be brought against a purported ideal are that it is: 1. Unattainable and 2. Undesirable (i.e., not really an ideal worthy of adherence). Any ideal for which there is no possibility of attainment is not worth our time. And any proffered ideal must meet some kind of standards or criteria to have a legitimate claim on our allegiance. Both sorts of challenges have been launched against the ideal of autonomous rationality. Autonomous rationality might be thought to be unattainable because one can never become aware of each of one’s inherited beliefs or even extricate all those we examine and find wanting. By the time one becomes significantly aware of one’s rational capacities, one already finds oneself possessed of an enormous trove of beliefs that are simply the result of socialization. And some are so deeply ingrained that they are highly resistant to efforts to change them (see this summary of experimental work on the phenomenon of implicit bias and its pervasiveness). Many 20th Century critics of Enlightenment ideals were fond of pointing out how much racist and sexist thinking continued to masquerade un der the banners of Enlightenment and Science. The prejudices of Enlightenment thinkers themselves, including the aforementioned Kant, are shocking today. In light of these considerations we need to be careful about how we articulate and think about the ideal of autonomous rationality. If the ideal is one of complete and absolute attainment of aloofness from the entire body of one’s beliefs and one’s decisions, with the capacity to render completely and instantaneously effective judgment on each one from a position of perfect reasoning, then the ideal is certainly unattainable. But the ideal should really be closer to one of habitual striving for the most autonomous rationality possible (and proper; see below), given one’s history and limitations. Indeed, becoming aware, through attention to new evidence and searching self-reflection, of just how difficult the ideal of such striving can be, is a part of the ideal. Many have argued that individual autonomous rationality is not desirable for a number of reasons. Some contend that it fosters undue focus on individuals at the expense of genuine community-centered values. Others hold that pervasive rationality leads to the disenchantment of all values. Another type of criticism holds that humans ar e actually at their best in moments of unreflective expertise--in skills that are not acquired through critical thinking and that are optimally performed when detached reflection on them is absent.I think the proper response to each of these sorts of criticisms is to hold that individual autonomous rationality cannot be our only ideal. And to learn to recognize its shortcomings and limits. One reason it is inescapable as at least one of our ideals, however, is that a capacity for the kind of recognition just noted is impossible without autonomous rationality. And this is because the capacity to recognize the proper applicability and limits of any value or ideal is partially dependent on repeated reflective assessment. This brings me back to the value of a philosophy major and how choosing to pursue philosophy can positively impact all your study skills. Despite its limitations I do, in fact, endorse the ideal of autonomous rationality, and recommend extended exposure to philosophy as a means of kick-starting one’s own cultivation of it. It is somewhat ironic that, for virtually all of us, we need guidance in awakening and developing our powers of autonomy. But this is why I also say to anyone considering a philosophy major (or class): don’t let any philosophy professor or student stifle your awakening autonomy. Once questioning is discouraged in any way, or a philosophical position is pressed on you over reflective consideration of why one might or might not adopt the position, the philosophical ideal of autonomy is being compromised. Indeed, a certain kind of vigilance, against oneself as well as others, is a necessary ingredient to the attainment and maintenance of any significant degree of autonomy. But this vigilance is well exemplified in the best philosophical texts as well as, to my experience, in the best colle ge-level philosophy classes.

Social Scandals in the Mystery Genre - 1538 Words

In the mystery genre one can agree that for a mystery to function as it does, it must have elements like a case that must be solved, a detective or someone who is playing as the detective, and, in most cases, murder. But in the short story â€Å"A Scandal in Bohemia,† by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a social scandal is a part of the theme, which is also seen in â€Å"Witness for the Prosecution,† by Agatha Christie and â€Å"Amber Gate,† by Walter Mosley. Just as a murder or a crime disrupts an aspect of society, a social scandal functions the same way. Normally, what we view as the â€Å"private life† and â€Å"public life† is kept separately because private life operates as the â€Å"fantasy† of the two worlds by creating the image of a â€Å"normal life†, which consists of a†¦show more content†¦Though, before, a man and his establishment was in danger because of a scandal, in this particular short story, Miss French symbolizes the wealthy class while Vole symbolizes the working class because he is working for Miss French and in need of money. In regards to the symbolism, we also must take into account to the ideal that the wealthy and working class do not overlap. In a way, this shows that one of the anxieties the society might have had at this time is the wealthy class, functioning as the private life, being destroyed by the working class, which is functioning as the public life. Furthermore, an example of this is seen when Mr. Mayherne says, â€Å"I am going to ask you a very serious question, and one of which it is vital I should have a truthful answer. You were in low water financially. You had the handling of an old lady’s affairs - an old lady whom according to her own statement, knew little or nothing of business. Did you at any time, or in any manner, convert to your own use the securities which you handled? Did you engage in any transaction for your own pecuniary advantage which will not bear the light of day† (Christie 1499). Considering this, challenged with the ideal of the working class being â€Å"bad†. The area of STP or segmentation, targeting and positioning is the basis of the entire marketing strategy of firm. Therefore, it would be interesting to study the concepts of segmentation, targeting and positioning. In the article, author argues that segmentation, targeting and positioning should be the first step towards the marketing strategy (Kumar Zia, 2016). The elements of marketing like Product, Price, Place and Promotion are determined based on the selection of segmentation, targeting and positioning. This article explains the concepts of segmentation, targeting and positioning and how thee concepts are the basis of the marketing strategy. The author argued that while developing the marketing strategy, segmentation should be the first step for organizations (Kumar Zia, 2016). Once the organization has divided the markets into different segments, the next step for organization should be targeting. Once the organization has a defined target market, the next step for the organization should be to define a positioning strategy that could be used to reach out to customers (Schlegelmilch, 2016). Most Films, Even The Excellent Ones, Fit Squarely Into An Existing Tra

Most films, even the excellent ones, fit squarely into an existing tradition of cinema. You have seen the same sort of thing before, even though the approach and many aspects of the film are novel. Once in a great while, more often for adventurous movie-goers than for those who see only Hollywood films, you come across something that is really new and different. Even less often, it is new, different, and good. Such a film is like a revelation. The first Kubrick movie one sees, or the first Tarkovsky, or the first Fellini, can be this sort of experience, a sudden broadening of one's private definition of what film is. The cinematic experience of Horse Thief was created by director, Tian Zhuangzhuang, in order to explore the relationship between religion and humans in Tibetan society. A fragmented narrative and minimal dialogue, the Horse Thief deals with the conflict between a Tibetan tribesman, Norbu, who steals horses for a living and his religion. Religion is the controlling force of life in Tibetan society and although Norbu is a thief, he is also a devout Buddhist. His relatively quiet life comes to an end one day when he steals a gift from the government to the monastery, a crime for which he and his family are ostracized and expelled from the tribe. Soon afterwards, Norbu's son dies and his death is interpreted as punishment from God. Although destitute, Norbu gives up his profession. He and his wife become nomads and their wanderings bring them to many major Tibetan festivals. The story is set in Tibet in the 1920's, though it might as well be the 16th century, for all the effect that the modern age has on the area. Despite Norbu's disreputable occupation, he piously contributes the bulk of his spoils to the temple. From this simple situation, a very minimal plot propels the film. But horse thief is not a film to watch for plot. Rather, the film presents a slow, careful revelation of the difficult lives of Tibetans, with emphasis on the vital role of religion in their lives. Practically every action taken by anyone in Horse Thief is directly related either to survival or religion. The land is harsh, and only constant effort permits people to live there. The characters only take time away from this struggle to worship their god. Gradually, as one watches the film, one realizes that the constant attention to worship is an intimate part of survival. Life is so hard that only sacred intervention can save the characters from death. Every turn of the prayer wheel, every ceremonial dance, every sacrifice and devotion has the practical aim of supplicating for the divine intervention that alone can ensure survival. The greatest disasters of the film stem from unluckily angering the deity. One of the most surprising things about this film from the People's Republic of China is that the peasants' attitudes about religion are taken completely at face value. Perhaps Buddha does not exist, and does not intervene in the daily lives of Tibetans, but Horse Thief offers n o evidence that he doesn't, and seems to suggest that he does. Even the unexpected theme of Horse Thief does not capture the importance of this film. The photography and direction are the film's most innovative aspects. Tian Zhuangzhuang, the director, has a unique visual style, favoring long, static shots. The typical presentation of long scenes in most movies is to break the scene into several shots, each taken from a different angle, at a different distance from the subject. Often, the only reason for breaking up the scene is visual interest. The director fears that we will be bored by a single, static shot covering several minutes, so he jazzes the scene up. Taken to the extreme, this approach yields MTV-style films, in which no shot lingers more than a few seconds - editing as rock and roll. Only daring directors will let their camera be still, and then only on the most interesting subjects, as a calculated effect. Tian takes a vastly different approach. He treats the camera as a distant viewer, almost godlike in its unblinking perspective. A shot will last for several minutes, with the action taking

Stigma, Discrimination And The Concept Of Social Exclusion The WritePass Journal

Stigma, Discrimination And The Concept Of Social Exclusion Abstract Stigma, Discrimination And The Concept Of Social Exclusion ). As noted by Goffman (1963), stigmatized individuals may accept the negative labels placed on them resulting in self-stigma which manifests in many ways including shame, self-hatred and self-isolation. Similarly, HIV/AIDs related stigma is reported to have severe implications on the stigmatized person. The onset of HIV and AIDS during the early 1980s triggered responses of stigma, fear, denial and discrimination which have, up-to date, been targeted at individuals perceived to be infected (UNESCO 2002). Such individuals become rejected not only by the community but also by their beloved ones. These individuals are also reported as having been denied access to health and education services on several instances. Research also shows that such individuals receive unfair treatment in the workplace. The root causes of stigma related to HIV/AIDS are fear and moral judgement (UNESCO 2002). HIV/AIDS pandemic is associated with fear of causal transmission of virus, fear of living with the virus, fear of loss of productivity, and imminent death (UNESCO 2002). Moral judgment is also considered as the root cause of the stigma. People infected with the disease are often seen as self-blaming, since the transmission of the pandemic is linked to stigmatized behaviour. HIV/AIDS-related stigma remains a barrier to effectively managing this epidemic. The fear of shame and discrimination prevents such infected individuals from seeking the much needed help and support, thereby making prevention and management extremely difficult. The feelings of shame, guilt and the fear of discrimination impedes an individuals willingness and ability to adopt preventive behaviours. This results in delayed help-seeking behaviours. Stigma still appears to be a major issue facing many employers and employees. There is increasing evidence of people being turned down for a job simply because they are infected with stigmatized illnesses. Others have also reported as having stopped looking for employment because they expect to be discriminated against. For example, a study led by Graham Thornicroft found over a third (34%) of the participants as having been shunned by people due to their mental illnesses (Thornicroft et.al, 2007). The study also found nearly a quarter (25%) of the participants as having stopped applying for work because they anticipated discrimination, and another 37% who were afraid of initiating close personal relationship due to fears of being discriminated against (Thornicroft et al., 2007). However, it was found that for those who anticipated discrimination, their experiences did not necessarily confirm this. Nearly half (47%) of those who had stopped looking for work and 45% of those that were afraid of initiating personal relationships because they anticipated discrimination did not in the actual sense experience this (Thornicroft et al., 2007). The study also found that 71% of the participants wished to conceal their illness, raising concerns about delayed help seeking behaviours due to fears of discrimination once their condition is disclosed (Thornicroft et al., 2007). Similarly, a recent survey on 500 leading employers in the UK conducted by SHAW Trust, showed that one in three employers thought that persons with mental illness were less reliable than the rest of the workforce (Thomas 2012). The survey also found that negative attitudes held by employees towards the mentally ill were a major barrier to employing individuals with mental illness. This indicates that stigma is still a major concern in the employment. Implications on policy and practice: There is a current policy spotlight on providing stigmatized individuals with greater employment support. This is largely due to emerging evidence of discrimination of stigmatized individuals in employment. It should be noted that some societies may increase the level of stigmatization through their laws, rules and policies. Legislations such as limitations on international travel and migration and those that include compulsory screening and testing tend to increase stigmatization and create a false sense of security concerns among individuals who may not necessarily be dangerous (EU report 2010). There is, however, a range of standards and policy initiatives which have been formulated to help address problems of stigmatization. The National Service Framework for Mental Health, for example, has incorporated standard services which must be adhered to including guidance on social inclusion, tackling stigma, and ensuring health promotion among those with mental illness (DFID 2007). There is also the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 which prohibits discrimination of disabled individuals in terms of employment, union membership and access to housing, health and education services (DFID 2007). The definition of disability is extended by the DDA 2005 to include people diagnosed with HIV. This implies that people with traits or attributes considered stigmatized are protected against discrimination in recruitment, training, promotion and from unfair dismissal. Such individuals are also protected against harassment and discrimination by colleagues in the workplace. However, despite these policy initiatives, it is apparent that stigma and discrimination is still an issue. For example, in the UK and the US, elaw and licensing practices are making it increasingly difficult for stigmatized individuals to be employed (Gonzalez 2012). Under the American with Disabilities Act, disabled persons can be denied a license especially where such a person poses a threat to others that cannot be reasonably eliminated (Gonzalez 2012). Also, a study by the HIV Law project on professional licensing practices in the US reported over 20 states with requirements that prohibit granting or renewal of license for persons with communicable or infectious diseases including HIV (Gonzalez 2012). Adding to this discriminatory licensing criterion, the study found that science based data was largely ignored, thereby promoting stigma and denying stigmatized individuals employment opportunities. A similar trend was evident in the UK especially when reforms were made to the job and benefit system with the aim of encouraging stigmatized individuals to re-enter the workforce (Gonzalez 2012). According to Laura Dunkeyson, a policy officer at the National AIDS trust, job applicants were often asked about their health status prior to the extension of an offer, which resulted in the exclusion of a number of persons from the workforce (Gonzalez 2012). Moreover, it was reported that, on application of a job by non-disabled and disabled individuals, the non-disabled persons were twice as likely to be invited for the interview as the disabled. Clearly, stigma still exists. However, popular views about mental illness and HIV/AIDS appear to be improving in term of less social rejection. According to a newly released research by Aviva (2012), over 28% of employees in the UK believe that the stigma associated with mental health problems has dropped. This is attributed to the increased awareness and public understanding of mental health issues. This shows that interventions that aim at improve public knowledge can effectively reduce the level of stigmatization. With improvement in public knowledge, people are more likely to recognize features of illnesses and become more supportive for those with such illnesses. Interventions to reduce stigma Efforts to reduce stigma have often been inhibited by the lack of public awareness and knowledge on issues contributing to the stigmatization of persons. Efforts to address stigma have also been inhibited by the lack of incentives/benefits for taking action (DFID 2007). Adding to this, stigma has been perceived as culturally specific and complicated to address (DFID 2007). The following are some important steps that might be taken to address the issue of stigmatization in employment: Stigmatized individuals could be provided with employment initiatives such as individual placement and support interventions (IPS) which is more effective than the traditional rehabilitation schemes (Pinfold 2003). Promote awareness of anti-discrimination legislation in the public (Grove 2012). Promote social inclusion through strengthening efforts to overcoming administrative, legal and societal barriers that prevent stigmatized individuals from enjoying equal and full participation (EU report 2010). Education also plays a major role in addressing stigma and discrimination in the society. It plays a key role of lessening the stigma and can affect change where the law has failed such as changing societal attitudes (Knifton 2010). Supporting meaningful participation of stigmatized individuals in national planning and policy making as well as in other processes (DFID 2012). The government also has a key role to play alongside law reform and national human rights commissions. They may condemn stigma and discrimination both in employment and in the community Ensure promotion and protection of human rights in institutional settings Challenge/address discrimination at workplaces Ensure policy dialogue and policy reform where necessary Increase interaction with stigmatized individuals to help build their confidence and increase their self-esteem Ensure strengthening and building capacity of individuals with stigmatized illnesses through skill building, training and counseling, network building, and income generation (DFID 2012). Ensure interactive and participatory education. This is highly effective as it fosters greater understanding of stigma and allows people to reflect on their attitudes and actions, thereby catalyzing individual change around stigma (DFID 2012). Advocate for policies that promote and facilitate effective rights based approach to addressing stigma related issues. There is also the need to stop mandatory testing except for limited purposes such as blood donations, court orders and epidemiological research. In addition, there is need for the government to emphasize on the rights of privacy of test results, given the recent changes in law in UK which allows insurance companies the right to know test results. Conclusion Stigmatization remains a major issue facing both the employers and employees. People can be stigmatized based on their race, beliefs, obesity, AIDs and even based on their mental health. Stigma has a dramatic, though under recognized effect on the life opportunities of stigmatized individuals including employment opportunities, access to education, health and housing. Efforts to reducing stigma have often been inhibited by the lack of public awareness and knowledge, lack of incentives/benefits for taking action, and the widely held view that stigma is complex to address. However, a few of initiatives appear to be reducing the level of stigmatization. According to a newly released research, popular views about mental illness and HIV/AIDS appear to be improving in term of less social rejection. This has been attributed to the increased awareness and public understanding of mental health issues While there is a voluminous literature exploring the publics perception of stigma, there is need for further research to explore these peoples experiences, the impact on their lives, and ways to addressing these issues. This could help shape interventions and policies for improved legislation. Reference Berzins K.M., Petch A.
